Scavenger Hunt

In this activity, students synthesize several concepts of clear paragraph structure, including topic sentences, well-integrated source information, and analysis of that source information. First on their own and then in small groups, students try to identify all six objectives. We then discuss the six objectives and the ways that the writers of the paragraphs could have improved their organization and clarity. The use of real student writing and the discussion of how the writing could be improved allows students to see the value of clear organization to their readers' understanding of their ideas.
